While sustainable fashion just became popularized, it has been a technique used for many years in order to preserve, maintain, and reduce throwing away items that might be beneficial to others. Fashion for the Earth states that “sustainable fashion refers to a clothing supply chain that is ecologically and socially responsible”. Having sustainable clothing can benefit not only how much we spend but also improve the environment.
There are a few areas across campus that help with spreading awareness about sustainable fashion, such as Clothing Underground, Buckeye Bargains, and The Loop Vintage, where you can find affordable yet classy gear for gamedays, whether it’s during the fall or spring semester.
Clothing Underground
Clothing Underground is one of the most popular places for many college students to get Ohio State merch for affordable prices. Not only are there vintage jackets and sweatshirts, but they also sell stickers and sunglasses. A majority of their items are second-hand, offering customers unique, vintage pieces for lower prices.
Buckeye Bargains
Buckeye Bargains is a women-owned business located on campus near the Ohio Union. Reviews show that they sell affordable, in-style clothing that can be worn for multiple events. All proceeds are donated to the university to be used as scholarships for Ohio State students.
The Loop Vintage
The Loop Vintage is a small business that not only sells Ohio State merch but other team merch. Reviews state that pricing is very affordable and the store offers many options for gameday attire. Additionally, the workers are known to be reliable and ready to help all the customers.
While many might not practice sustainable fashion, it is important to spread awareness about preserving, maintaining, and reducing waste of clothing items worthy of a second chance. With costs at many retail stores, sustainable fashion brings the same items yet in a more efficient way for college students.
