Madeleine Roman
As a person who absolutely loves all things food, I decided to share my take on the top 5 restaurants in Columbus. Yes, my picks are going to be the most popular restaurants around, but that just proves they are the best, right?
- Northstar Café
Starting out with a classic we have Northstar Café. This place was one of the first restaurants that I tried when moving to Columbus, I fell in love instantly. This American food spot is always a great place to take your parent or any friend visiting for the weekend. The food is wholesome and full of flavor. Additionally, this place as some of the best costumer service that I have experienced. With 4 locations in the greater Columbus area, they have successfully become a fan favorite for families and students all over Columbus. I would recommend making it to their brunch hours which are limited to Saturday and Sunday from open to 11 a.m. The biscuit egg sandwich is to die for.
- Forno Kitchen + Bar
Second up we have the all-time birthday celebration favorite Forno Kitchen + Bar. This restaurant located in the heart of Short North is a perfect spot for any type of celebration you might have. This is a new American dinner + weekend brunch restaurant that is at all times lively. They have the tastiest appetizers and super fun, Instagram worthy, cocktails. My personal favorite aspect of Forno is the free jelly-filled strawberries you receive on your birthday. They sure know how to make you feel extra special on your big day, what else would anyone want!
- Marcella’s
Love Italian food? This is the spot for you. This is a timeless Italian restaurant that is friendly for any day of the week. The food is always on point and the wine is even better. I love stopping into Marcella’s whenever I have the chance to have date night. The best time to go is during their happy hour where most cocktails and appetizers are half off. If you get the chance to stop in here be sure to order the veal meatball, it is the most delicious meatball in Columbus.
- High Bank Distillery
Coming in at number 4 is a Grandview favorite, High Bank Distillery. Trendy, to say the least. High Bank as a fresh industrial interior design with a modern American cuisine menu. This is another place that I frequent for birthday celebrations. They have some of the best cocktails and great service. Of course, it all comes bundled up with divine service and food. Although its approaching winter, keep this place in mind when patio season approaches, they have great seating for when the weather permits.
- Katalina’s
Coming in at number 5 is all time breakfast favorite, Katalina’s. This is a go-to anytime I have visitors in town, and we want some really quality breakfast. Katalina’s is a very funky, warm, and delicious spot for breakfast and early lunch. They are famous for their pancake balls that are typically found with Nutella in them. My favorite location is the OG shop located on Pennsylvania Ave. Pre-COVID they let you write all over the tables and walls, it was always fun leaving your mark whenever getting breakfast. Be sure to grab a freshly squeezed orange juice, tastes like its straight from the tree!
