Final exam week is here for students at Ohio State, and it is important to keep well-being in mind amongst the whirlwind of stress, textbooks, and late-night study sessions.
While dedication to academics is crucial, it’s equally important to take breaks and recharge your mind and body. Fortunately, Columbus, Ohio, offers a wide array of opportunities for students to unwind and rejuvenate during this hectic time. This blog will cover some of our teams’ favorite study break tips to help maintain sanity and low stress levels while preparing for finals.
Top Choice: Soaking up Vitamin D & Exercising
With the warmer weather on the rise in Columbus, one of the best ways to take your mind off of stress is to get outside and take in your natural surroundings. The ability to simply move your body is something that we often take for granted, but important to remember! Exercise, whether preferred out or indoors, can greatly reduce stress levels in college students.
Columbus has many outdoor options for outdoor exercise and experience, one awesome one being the Scioto Mile. When you’re feeling overwhelmed by the weight of your textbooks, take a stroll downtown!

This beautiful park stretches along the downtown riverfront, offering scenic views, walking paths, and green spaces where you can relax and clear your mind. Whether you prefer a leisurely walk or a peaceful moment by the water, the Scioto Mile provides the perfect escape from the stress of exams.
If your exercise is already completed for the day, kick up your feet and soak in some Vitamin D on our campus Oval. It might be the perfect time to bring back an old OSU tradition, Oval Beach!

Tip Two: Fueling your Body and Mind with Nutrients
As we all know, finals week could be extremely stressful and tiring. While we are all busy studying long hours and staying up late nights cramming last minute studying in, it is easy to forget to fuel your body throughout the day. Having healthy, easy, prepared meals could make your days a little easier. As we all know, filling your body with the correct nutrients will help you move throughout the day and keep your mind in a good headspace while you are studying.
A good way of finding easy meals that could fuel your mind and body is TikTok. TikTok has great, yummy, and easy-to-make recipes that could give you ideas for your daily meals for the week. Some creators also add the positive effects on the exact meal you are looking to make, which makes it very convenient. And maybe if you have some extra time, or even after finals are done, reward yourself with some Columbus local cuisine! There are so many great restaurants to choose from, especially in the Short North Arts District.
No matter how you choose to rejuvenate throughout the week, remember that prioritizing your wellbeing will help you be on your ‘A’ game during finals!
